Financial Counselor – Financial Empowerment Center

Eliud Ortiz is a certified Financial Counselor for the Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, which is a partnership between Housing Initiative Partnership (HIP), the City of Gaithersburg, and Cities for Financial Empowerment which opened in March 2022.

Through the FEC, Eliud helps improve the financial stability of low- and moderate-income residents of the City o f Gaithersburg by providing them with high-quality, one-on-one financial education and coaching. Counseling services are available free of charge regardless of income or age. Everyone’s financial goals are different, and Eliud works to create a plan that will help clients meet their unique goals and needs.

Eliud is bilingual in English and Spanish, and brings more than 10 years of accounting and financial management experience in the banking and insurance industries to this role. He earned his bachelor’s degree in global business and public policy, and a master’s degree in accounting and financial management from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
