Jassiem Shabazz

Jassiem is the Housing & Financial Counselor in Housing Initiative Partnership’s Montgomery County offices.

He joined HIP in July 2026 and provides financial coaching services to residents through the City of Gaithersburg’s Financial Empowerment Center. He also provides housing counseling services to residents in the City of Rockville.

As a certified financial counselor, Jassiem helps improve the financial stability of low- and moderate-income residents of the City of Gaithersburg by providing them with high-quality, one-on-one financial education and coaching at the Gaithersburg FEC. Counseling services are available free of charge regardless of income or age. Everyone’s financial goals are different, and Jassiem works to create a plan that will help clients meet their unique goals and needs.

He brings more than eight years of case management experience supporting individuals facing housing, financial and behavioral health challenges while working with both Cornerstone Montgomery and CenExel Clinical Research. Jassiem holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish, and he spent six months teaching in Chile. In his spare time, Jassiem can be found supporting the Philadelphia Eagles football team. He also enjoys traveling and learning about other cultures and their food.
