Foreclosure Prevention
HIP Services offers both educational workshops and one-on-one counseling to homeowners struggling to make their mortgage payments. The weekly Foreclosure Orientations, in English and Spanish, are conducted by a certified foreclosure prevention counselor in both our Gaithersburg, Germantown and Hyattsville offices. After attending the orientation, the homeowner will meet with a Certified Foreclosure Prevention Counselor who will review the homeowners particular loan and financial situation, contact the lender, review the homeowners “workout” options and work with the homeowner and lender to achieve the best outcome possible. Regardless of the outcome, HIP’s counselors will provide critical education and support for the client every step of the way. HIP is a HUD-approved counseling agency and charges no fees for its services.
HIP is working to educate Maryland homeowners about the new Foreclosure Mediation Program. Homeowners who had foreclosure actions filed against them after July 1, 2010 may be eligible to participate in this groundbreaking program. Homeowners must opt-in for this program within 25 days of being served with foreclosure papers (called an “Order to Docket.) Don’t miss out on this important opportunity. Please review Maryland’s website and contact HIP Services immediately if you think you might qualify for this program.
